Pre-destined for monitoring the rotation of rollers, cylinders and axles Users are increasingly demanding encoders for simple applications, such as monitoring the rotation of rollers, cylinders and shafts, in a robust but nevertheless reasonably priced design. The new DKS 40 was specially developed for these applications. It is not only the compact design and robustness that attracts attention, but also the fact that its extremely attractive price makes it a genuine cost-cutter.
Given its application and price, the DKS 40 offers unrivalled quality. Its housing is a solid zinc die-casting and is also extremely compact – with a diameter of 50 mm and a length of 42 mm. As a result the user saves on valuable installation space. The DKS 40 is extremely robust, making it resistant to heavy impacts and vibrations. This is a result of using SICK|Stegmann’s highly successful MiniDisc
technology in the design. In application areas such as tooling, textile, packaging or timber processing machinery – the operating environment can be tough and space limited.
The DKS 40 is available with a face-mount flange and 8 mm solid shaft. The device offers all popular line counts up to 2048. There is a choice of electrical interface between Open Collector, TTL/RS-422 and HTL/push-pull. The connection cable is positioned in such a way that it is possible to lay the cable in a radial or axial direction without subjecting it to stress or excessive bending. With this flexibility, the DKS 40 sets a new standard in its class.
Robust, compact, reasonably priced, flexible and rapidly available for use – the features that characterise the new world leading encoder from SICK|Stegmann.
