9.30 - Registration and refreshments

10.00 - Multi-component gas analyser comparison for CEMS applications
A review of the technologies, including NDIR, DOAS and FTIR, presently in use for CEMS systems and their ability to comply with the hazardous waste directive and EN14181 is discussed

10.45 - Particulates monitors and EN14181
An examination of both scatter light and opacity monitors and the effects of particle characteristics on calibration data. Both plant generated and wind tunnel results are presented

11.15 - Coffee break

11.45 - TDLS Developments for emission and process
Tuneable Diode Laser technology is not new but is gaining great reputation in the detection of low concentration gas species. In particular, HF in the Aluminium industry and NH3 control associated with NOx reduction plants. An overview is given along with application examples.

12.30 - Lunch

1.30 - QAL3 in practice
Under EN14181, QAL3 provides the ongoing data to ensure that a CEMS is still providing reliable emissions data for compliance reporting. In practice analysers carry out automatic periodic zero and span checks which are processed using CUSUM or Shewart charts. Some early experiences and potential pitfalls are explained.

2.15 - QAL2 at Cockenzie - a sucess story
Within EN14181, QAL2 covers the initial calibration of an installed CEMS and involves comparing the CEMS measured values to ones produced by standard reference methods. This work is done independently of the CEMS manufacturer by test houses accredited to traceable BS/EN standards.
Test data from Cockenzie power station is presented for 16 particulates monitors and 8 NOx / SO2 analysers.

2.45 - Exhibition, Tour and Space Challenge
