Setting the IVC 2D reader to verify and read text or codes is simple using the easy to use IVC Studio software supplied with the smart cameras. For simple verification of text such as is a sell by date correct, you can use the show and teach Verification tool, this is typically used when code formats do not vary greatly.

Where data is required to be read and sent to a computer/PLC or the format changes often you could use the Read tool. This is also a show and teach process but works on the complete character set that can be printed at any time. When the IVC 2D reader see a new string it will read it and send an ASCI string out via serial or Ethernet ports. This tool also has an option for verification when you know what is to be printed.

Bar codes and 2D datamatrix codes can also be read in conjunction to reading or verifying text by simply selecting the area in which the code could appear and which type of code it is.
