The new SICK|Stegmann DRS61 is the world's first commercially viable programmable incremental encoder. Using a low cost and simple USB programming tool, customers can select any resolution from 1 to 8192ppr. Although ideal for use as a universal spare or an encoder for prototyping, the low cost of the DRS61 also makes it an interesting proposition for manufacturers of machines with multiple axes requiring encoders with different ppr's.

Incorportaing a robust incremental or absolute encoder the BKS/PKS/XKS wire drive encoders have a resolution of 0.05mm and produce outputs in the following formats: TTL Incremental (PKS) / SSI absolute (BKS) or Hiperface absolute (XKS).
